SEAT internationally

SEAT was founded in 1950 by the National Institute of Industry (Instituto Nacional de Industria, INI) of Spain and is currently a subsidiary of the German Volkswagen Group, exporting 80% of its production to 75 countries. SEAT traces its roots back to June 22 1940, when the Spanish private bank “Banco Urquijo” founded the “Sociedad Ibérica de Automóviles de Turismo” (S.I.A.T.) as the precursor to SEAT, with the ambitious goal of becoming the national automotive industry of Spain.

With headquarters in Barcelona, SEAT’s main factory in Martorell is one of the largest and most modern in Europe, with an annual production of over 500,000 vehicles. The company is also responsible for the production of Audi models.

Advanced technology, sporty design, and driving comfort are the characteristics of all SEAT cars. Through SEAT MÓ, the company works on the development and promotion of the future strategy of micro-mobility, focusing on electric products and services.
